Unreality. This is the term I use to denote the present situation we are living in. What we believe to be reality is a mere figment of our imagination and my so called life that I’ve been living up till a year back is proof enough for this. And my experiences for the last one year show me clearly how pathetically ridiculous our lives have become. The only factors governing us today are a need for money, need for creature comforts far exceeding that which is necessary, and any means commercial, medical, philosophical or spiritual to reduce the suffering arising from these artificial needs. The astounding aspect underlying all this is the ignorance of and the purposeful eye-closure to this ridiculousness. As if people are saying “Its okay, we’re happy with what we have, and this suffering is normal and intrinsic to human life.” If you’re happy with whatever you have, then why the need for more, and if there is true happiness and satisfaction, why is there suffering. But within all of them, it is evident that this suffering is not in their true nature and that the need to get out is being cleverly abdicated.
Our thought processes have been engineered to constantly crave for something. It doesn’t matter what the object of desire is, whether the need has been met or not and if the actuality of craving is justified… the craving is inherent. It is natural to crave, to hunger constantly for anything and everything that is within and beyond reach. Right from a young age we are taught to value money, that only through money can you gain prominence in this world, and yes… It is important to be prominent; otherwise life is another form of junk. Every form of education is indirectly pointing to this de facto covenant of life. Our speech, mannerisms and the conduct of duties is based on this principle. To be prominent and famous, to be someone and that someone is based on how the so called society dictates and defines the nature of that someone. It is not enough to be yourself anymore, for that is insufficient. The inner Self has no more validity and the approval or certification of the society is needed for membership to the human race. What the world doesn’t realize is that nobody needs an approval to breathe, and the same applies to life as well.
Thou shall not kill, thou shall not steal and thou shall respect life in any form without judgment. These are everlasting rules of the universe laid down by not any one man, but by the entire Creation that existed, currently exists and will always exist. Other than these rules, every other principle is but only a derivative and shall not hold good if one of the above three are at conflict. In that case all modern life dictates and is based on killing and harming. All forms of business and commercialism is stealing and all human behavior to one another is disrespectful of life itself. I am talking about general society and anyone who thinks otherwise should be reminded about the real picture that exists outside. Take a walk around, my friend and I shall show you at least one instance, if not more, of the Three Rules being defied. Acceptance of what goes around is necessary, but so is awareness of the same so that we may not follow the ever treaded path.
