Ekalavya’s Quest

He walked away with the heart of a wanderer
Into the depths of the teeming forest of thoughts
To conquer the limits of the mind, and its passions
Whichever way fell before his glowing eyes deceived
Yet never did he falter, for Ekalavya’s quest was strong

They claimed he shall not learn, never see the truth
Said that all his life was spent as a tirade of ignorance
Nothing good shall ever come of him, a lost cause was he
And so every footprint and fixture of life opposed this boy
Though the storm raged on, so Ekalavya’s quest was strong

Condemned and sent away by the all knowing
Decreed an outcast by all the formal institutions
With the hunger for truth never subsiding within him
His own teacher stood helpless against the law of the land
Without a view of right or wrong, Ekalavya’s quest was strong

The rise of consciousness in his simple life
Without a care or concern, for all that came today
The trees of the past trembled as he cut through them
And the visions of tomorrow were chased into the wild
As all desires disappeared, so Ekalavya’s quest was strong

He chose the unhesitating trail, of wild dreams
And wicked fortunes to forge his blade of wisdom
Questioned about his lineage and leverage, his calm
And countenance would answer the mockery of destiny
With a soul of supreme bliss Ekalavya’s quest was strong

To risk his life, or even forsake his thumb
His master’s word against his better opinion
All can be renounced for that glory inexplicable
This world shall know of his wonderful innocence
Living the life divine, so Ekalavya’s quest was strong
